Remarks: Mikhail Zhuravlev was born in Novosibirsk, where he began his musical training as a pianist and oboist. His studies took him first to Berlin, then to Freiburg im Breisgau, and finally to the Geneva University of Music, where he completed his studies in oboe, piano, and harpsichord performance. His teachers include Anatoly Taran, Burkhard Glaetzner, Heinz Holliger, and Maurice Bourgue (oboe), Elisabeth Athanassova (piano), Leonardo García-Alarcón (harpsichord conducting), and Alessio Corti (organ). Mikhail Zhuravlev has won prizes at several international competitions, including the 8th Sony Oboe Competition in Karuizawa, Japan. As a solo oboist, he has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, the Staatskapelle Dresden, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Mikhail Zhuravlev is principal oboist of the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra and, since 2025, has been a lecturer in oboe at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, Wuppertal campus.
