Remarks: Andrei Ioniță was born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1994. He studied with Ani-Marie Paladi in Bucharest and Prof. Jens Peter Maintz at the Berlin University of the Arts. In 2015, he won the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Music Competition. At that point, he had already won prizes at the ARD, Khachaturian, and Feuermann competitions. From 2016 to 2018, the BBC in London awarded him the title of “New Generation Artist,” which boosted his popularity in the UK. This was followed by performances with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Other partners included the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has worked with renowned conductors such as Lawrence Foster, Herbert Blomstedt, Paavo Järvi, Susanna Mälkki, Cristian Macelaru, Joanna Mallwitz, Manfred Honeck, Sylvain Cambreling, Kent Nagano, and Michael Sanderling. His chamber music partners include Martha Argerich, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Igor Levit, Christian Tetzlaff, Sergei Babayan, and Steven Isserlis. On his highly acclaimed first solo CD, *Oblique Strategies*, Andrei Ioniță presents a world premiere by Brett Dean featuring Bach and Kodály.
